Culture Night was Bubblicious!

For those of you who visited Science Gallery on Culture Night, you may have noticed the sweet smell of summer fruits in the air and thought you were going a bit mad. Lucky you for you it was a new project by David Jackson featuring scented bubbles! David developed the scented bubbles as part of Science Club, in association with Science Gallery, at this year’s Dublin Fringe Festival. A huge hit at the closing party of Fringe, we thought the project deserved an encore performance so brought it to Culture Night… but with a twist.

Three bubble machines were blowing three different scented bubbles… now for the twist - visitors weren't told what scent belonged to each bubble machine, but had to guess the scents in order to win an amazing prize – ZUBBLES- the world’s first coloured bubbles! (They come in blue and pink, and amazingly don’t stain at all, but fade after a few minutes. You can find out more on http://www.zubbles.com)

So, without further ado…the scents were…

1.     Rhubarb

2.     Watermelon

3.     Raspberry

Only three people managed to get the correct answers! Although there were many close answers- there were more not so close. Among out favorites ... meat, tobacco, lobster and even pencils! We love our creative visitors.

Congratulations to Michaela Markova, David Clarke ( aged 8 ) and Mark Browne, who all have great olfactory talents and managed to get all three! We’ll be contacting you about your prizes and hope to see you back in the gallery soon.
