SCIENCE GALLERY FILM CLUB: BRAZIL Dir: Terry Gilliam
Paccar Theatre, Science Gallery
Gearing up for the opening of Science Gallery’s new exhibition WHAT IF... BRAZIL throws us into a futuristic society that isn’t the Utopian dream many imagine. Exploring the hopes and fears of emerging technologies, WHAT IF...asks you to imagine future scenarios that may be brought to us by scientific developments similar to the future in BRAZIL. The film features Sam Lowry, a harried technocrat in a futuristic society that is needlessly convoluted and inefficient. He dreams of a life where he can fly away from technology and overpowering bureaucracy, and spend eternity with the woman of his dreams. But will a nightmare scenario destroy his hopes for the future?
A special introduction will precede the film screening, followed by pints in O’Neills, Pearse Street, for a more casual post show chat.
Ticket Info: Science Gallery Film Club Members €2 (Annual Membership Fee €5, then €2 per screening)
Members can bring a friend on a guest pass for €5. Please buy your tickets at Science Gallery reception on the night.
