A Universe-ally Appealing Science Friday: Astro Science, Astro Apps, and Astro Music

Just a quick Science Friday on this lovely bank holiday…

Armagh STEM Conference

The fourth annual Communicating STEM (Science Technology, Engineering and Maths) conference will be in ArmaghMay 13, 2010. Click here to register.

Launch (i)pad

The NYTimes does a round-up of all the best smartphone/iPad astronomy apps. So real you don’t even have to look up!

Blast Off, Weezer Style

On a happier note, and more in line with our upcoming Biorythm exhibit, check out this appropriately astro-themed ‘mythical lost masterpiece’ “Songs From The Black Hole.” Intended to be the follow up to Weezer’s debut album, it was never officially released.

Universal Appeal

Jeff Weeks will be at the Science Gallery on May 13th, with a talk on cosmology, dimensions and the shape of our universe: “When we look out on a clear night, the universe seems infinite. Yet this infinity might be an illusion.”

Book now to avoid disappointment!

Blasted oil spill

Sometimes the Science Gallery installations seem to become topical for all the wrong reasons (Remember the eerie timing of ‘Infectious’ and swine flu?).
Well, the marine theme of the plastic reef at HCCR right now should make us extra sensitive to the news of the tragic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, which is thought to possibly be five-times bigger than originally expected

Evidenced Based Voting

Lastly, and from the baddest science dude himself, some science-debunking, UK-election style.
