“Quantum by Manjit Kumar is so well written that I now feel I've more or less got particle physics sussed” – Audrey Fogelman, Guardian

Do you feel you have particle physics or quantum theory sussed? Me neither, which is why I'm really looking forward to Tuesday's talk by Manjit Kumar, as part of the SFI Speaker Series at Science Gallery.

ARTISTS AND SCIENTISTS EXPLORE THE FUTURE OF OUR SPECIES AT MAJOR NEW EXHIBITION AT SCIENCE GALLERY, TRINITY COLLEGE DUBLIN

15 April - 24 June 2011

Don't forget (OK that's the last time we use that particular turn of phrase about MEMORY LAB) that today (Friday April 8th) is the last day to check out MEMORY LAB. Today is also the Trinity Ball so the Science Gallery will close earlier than usual today. Please be here by 15:00 at the very latest to get a chance to try out some of our experiments before we shut down at 16:00.

Then sit back, relax and wait in anticipation as we build HUMAN+ which opens in less than a week with a VSH (Very Special Human) preview party of April 14th. You can be there too:

Science Gallery has won a Shorty Award for Cultural Institution at an award ceremony that took place last night (March 28th) at New York's Times Centre - complete with 140 character acceptance speeches.

We're getting quite excited at the prospect of Joshua Foer speaking at Science Gallery on April 7th - the same day his book Moonwalking with Einstein is released in Europe.  A couple of years ago Joshua Foer went to the US Memory Championships to write an article about the masters of memory who compete in recollection. A year later he returned to participate as a contestant and won the title!  Joshua's book outlines the techniques he used to go from forgetful journalist to a memory champion, but also why memory matters to society.

Science Gallery announces major collaboration between Science Gallery, Trinity College Dublin, European Partners and Havard University.

Please note that Science Gallery and MEMORY LAB will be closed on St Patrick’s Day – but don’t despair! There are plenty of things to discover and enjoy throughout the country. Find out more here: http://www.stpatricksfestival.ie/

If you can't wait to get stuck into the experiments at MEMORY LAB have a quick read of Dick Ahlstrom's piece in the Irish Times from 10 March where he previews the LAB IN THE GALLERY.

Don't forget that MEMORY LAB opens to the public tomorrow at midday and runs until April 8th.

Don't forget to check out this year's winner of Doodle 4 Google which is on www.google.ie all day today March 9th. The winning entry - which was announced at a ceremony at Science Gallery this week - is by Layla Karpuz from Mary Mother of Hope School in Dublin. Congratulations to Layla and all the other participants of this year's competition!
