ELECTRIC DREAMS COMPETITION - ENTRIES CLOSED
Ever wanted to talk to your car? What if your car could talk back?
Science Gallery and ESB ecars recently ran the ELECTRIC DREAMS competition as part of the GREEN MACHINES exhibition asking you to dream up your idea for the next generation mobile app to allow seamless communication between the driver, the car and the network of charging stations. The entries have now closed, and we are looking at all the entries to select 1 lucky winner. The winner will be contacted by Science Gallery/ESB and will be announced on December 17th.
Please see full terms and conditions for this competition at the bottom of this page.
If your idea for an app is chosen you could be in with a chance to drive an ecar for one month and to participate in the ESB ecar trials. You can find out more about the ESB ecars initiative on www.esb.ie/ecars
So what is an electric car?
COMPETITION RULES
ELECTRIC DREAMS COMPETITION - SCIENCE GALLERY AND ESB ECARS
November 2010
1. GENERAL
The Electric Dreams Competition ("the Competition") is organised and administered by the Science Gallery and ESB ecars (the "Organisers").
The Organisers will provide a Mitsubishi iMiEV ("ecar") to the winner for their own use for a period of one month. In the event the winning entrant is not permitted to drive or if the Organisers cannot procure insurance on terms reasonably acceptable to the Organisers, the Organisers reserve the right to provide a substitute prize of similar value. The Organisers will not be responsible for any inability of the prize winner to take up the specified prize. The Organisers reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to waive any Conditions of Entry at any time without prior notice and without incurring liability. Details of such changes shall be posted on the Science Gallery website.
To the extent permitted by law, the Organisers accept no liability for any direct or indirect damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any person as a result of entering the competition. The Organisers are not responsible for any failure of any email or entry to be received for any reason, including on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet, telephone lines or at any web site, or any combination thereof.
By entering the Competition, all entrants agree to these Competition Rules in full.
The Organisers reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to withdraw, suspend or terminate the Competition or to amend or vary these Competition Rules at any time without prior notice and without incurring liability. Details of such changes shall be posted on the Science Gallery website.
The Organisers assume no responsibility for postal, technical or natural conditions that prevent the reception and judging of Competition submissions.
The Competition and these Competition Rules will be governed by and construed with the laws of Ireland.
2. ELIGIBILITY
This Competition is open to all Irish residents aged 17 or over with the exception of employees of Science Gallery, Mitsubishi Group and ESB Group, their immediate families, agents and anyone else professionally associated with this Competition.
3. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
Entry to the Competition will take the form of a postcard submitted in Science Gallery or by email to electricdreams@sciencegallery.com. Applications to be submitted no later than 1st December 2010.
Each submission must include:
The name and contact details of the entrant (email and/or telephone)
Explanation of idea - in writing or sketch form (the "idea")
Entrants may submit as many ideas as they like. Each idea must form a separate entry and be accompanied by the full supporting information.
The Organisers will not accept entries which include profanity, pornography, indecent images or references. The Organisers reserve the right to disallow any entries they regards to contain inappropriate or incomplete content.
By entering the Competition, the entrant understands that the idea (including descriptions and sketches/images) will be made publicly available and will be shared with members of the general public across any and all media channels including the internet.
All ideas should be available to the organizers for exhibition purposes.
Each entrant must verify that they have read and agreed to these Competition Rules. The winning entrant must hold a current full driving licence and be over 17 years of age.
The Organisers will supply a home charge point for the month of the trial. If not the owner of the relevant dwelling, the entrant must have permission for installation of the charge point. If, following selection of a winner the provision of this home charge unit cannot, in the view of the Organisers, be done safely and economically, then another entrant may be selected in place of that winner.
Given the requirement to install a home charge point in the dwelling of the winner, entrants must live in or have access to a dwelling with ground floor access, existing electricity supply and an adjacent driveway or garage where the ecar can be parked and charged daily. If the electricity supply agreement for the dwelling is not in the name of the entrant, the entrant must have permission to use the electricity connection to charge the ecar.
4. CONDITIONS OF AWARD
The Competition will be open for entries from 1st November until 1st of December 2010. The Organisers are not responsible for and will not accept ideas received after this time.
The submissions to the Competition will be judged by a panel made up of representatives from Science Gallery and ESB ecars. The decision of the judging panel in selecting a winner and determining compliance with these Competition Rules shall be final and the Organisers shall not engage in further correspondence or communication on such matters.
The winner will be announced in December 2010.

The Organisers will use the personal data the entrant submitted to administer the Competition and local administrators working on behalf of the Organisers have access to personal details for the purposes of informing the entrant of any progression throughout the Competition or publicity opportunities.
