IGNITE: ELECTRIC PICNIC
Science Gallery is delighted to be at Electric Picnic for our fifth installment of IGNITE. IGNITE asks the questions- if you had five minutes on stage what would you say? What if you only got 20 slides and they rotated automatically after 15 seconds? Around the world geeks have been putting together IGNITE nights to show their answers on science, technology, art and society. Some of our IGNITE stars include:
Mark Congiusta: "Go ahead and pirate that record label's music. They'll make more."
Margaret E Ward: "Seven things you should never say if you're human: debunking jargon for homo sapiens"
White Noise: Beatboxer
BP Fallon: "Now & Zen: Mind Your Mind And Your Mind Will Mind You"
Steve Daley: "There ain't no time for chastity"
and more!
What is Ignite?
Ignite is an O'Reilly event and was started in Seattle in 2006 by Brady Forrest and Bre Pettis. There are thriving Ignite communities in Seattle, Portland, Paris, and NYC- and now Stradbally! Fast-paced, fun, thought-provoking, social, local, global-Ignite is all of these and more. It's a high-energy evening of 5-minute talks by people who have an idea-and the guts to get onstage and share it with their hometown crowd. Run by local volunteers who are connected through the global Ignite network, Ignite is a force for raising the collective IQ and building connections in each city. And, via streaming and archived videos of local talks, local Ignites share all that knowledge and passion with the world. Be part of the buzz by following us on Twitter @IgniteDublin and @sciencegallery
