SOURCE - Performance by artist Mary Coble

Since opening SURFACE TENSION we have been asking visitors to collect samples of their tap water in 5l plastic containers and engage in conversations about their water asking them do they know where their water comes from? Should everyone have free access to water? and Do they drink their tap water or bottled water? In this one day performance that mimes the near Sisyphean acts of daily water collection in the developing world, Mary will lift and pour these samples into the purpose built 2.5 m fountain in the Gallery that contiuously filters the water. At the end of the performance, water from all over the city, now in this central source will be available for Science Gallery visitors to drink. Join us to discuss, debate and consider key aspects of accesibility to water and how we use it at this thought provoking performance.
