Water Cycle Workshop

Saturday, December 10, 2011 - 13:00 - 15:00
Stomata

Has Surface Tension’s ‘Water Lab’ given you a thirst for more?

Take part in this hands-on workshop, led by Mike Williams from the School of Natural Sciences, all about the major role of plants in the hydrological cycle as featured in Water Lab.

How does water manage to move to the tip of the tallest tree? What is water flux? How much water travels through one leaf of a tiny plant or a full rain forest and how can you calculate this? Learn more with the help of simple microscopy methods, potometers and pressure chambers.

Bring your own houseplant and take a look at it close up! Now that Christmas is just around the corner….why not bring in a ponsietta, a cyclamen or mistletoe and test it out at the Water Cycle Workshop!
