LOVE LAB: THE SCIENCE OF DESIRE
What lies behind those butterflies you feel when you fall in love? What makes one person’s dream date a nightmare for another? Does romance really exist or do our genes precondition us to seek out particular partners? Love has been the inspiration for songwriters, poets and artists from the beginning of time but now scientists are suggesting that it's all a matter of chemistry. Join Science Gallery’s month long LOVE LAB to help us reveal the science of desire – LOVE LAB runs until March 12th 2010.
PLEASE NOTE THAT LOVE LAB is a LAB IN THE GALLERY where we ask you to participate in real, publishable research. To do this you must register and fill in consent forms - this may take some time and you may experience some delays at busy times on the weekends. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and ask for you patience. To participate in research experiments you must be over the age of 16. LOVE LAB is not suitable for visitors under the age of 15.
For groups of 10 or more visitors please contact Science Gallery in advance to make a group booking on (01) 896 4091.
Is Cupid a scientist? LOVE LAB draws on research from a number of different disciplines including neuroscience, psychology, genetics, physiology and biochemistry and has been curated by some of Ireland’s leading scientists, including Boyle Medal winner Professor Luke O’Neill, geneticist Dr Aoife McLysaght, Professor Fiona Newell and Science magazine's Gonzo Scientist John Bohannon.
